Mission

SEHARA promotes inclusive and quality special education for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in rural communities through accessible education, therapeutic support, and skill development programs.

The rapid advancement of electronic media has increased awareness among persons with disabilities, even in the remotest areas of the country. Today, individuals no longer seek pity; they demand justice, equal opportunities, and recognition as full members of society.

At Tanzeem-al-Lissan, while focusing on children with hearing impairments in rural areas, we not only provide quality education, therapy, and rehabilitation services, but also work toward their economic and social empowerment, enabling them to live with dignity and become contributing members of their families and communities.

The SEHARA Program is a community-based outreach initiative launched in February 1999 to provide special education for hearing-impaired children in rural areas of Faisalabad. The program was initially strengthened through financial support from the Punjab Welfare Trust for the Disabled (PWTD).

Following a detailed survey, the villages and towns as Ramdewali, Lehlan, Sadhar, Makkuna, Sammundri, Chak Jhumra, Aminpur, Dijkot, Khurrinwala, and Barnala were selected for establishing the first Centres. In August 2001, five additional Centres were established with the assistance of TVO, located in Sangla Hill, Phalor, Shahkot, Satiana, and Tandianwala.

Today, these Centres continue to function with the financial support of PWTD and the active participation of local communities, ensuring sustainable access to education and rehabilitation services for rural hearing-impaired children.

Facilities and Services at SEHARA Centres

1. Basic Education
Special education is provided from Play Group to Matric, following the Punjab Textbook curriculum, adapted to meet the learning needs of hearing-impaired students.

3. Free Hearing Aids
All hearing-impaired students are provided with hearing aids free of cost, ensuring equal access to essential assistive technology.

4. Fine Arts
Special focus is placed on developing artistic talents, helping students enhance creativity, self-expression, and confidence.

5. Computer Training
Every student receives basic computer education, preparing them to navigate modern technology and digital learning platforms.

6. Vocational Skills Training
In addition to formal education, students are trained in vocational skills by qualified instructors, equipping them with practical skills for future employment and economic independence.

7. Sports and Co-Curricular Activities
Regular sports and co-curricular activities are organized to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and social skills among students.

Parents’ Counselling & Mothers’ Meetings
Regular counselling sessions keep parents informed about students’ academic, behavioral, and developmental progress, with professional guidance for home support. Monthly Mothers’ Meetings, held on the first Friday, strengthen parent–institution collaboration.

Free Education
Free education, including textbooks, learning materials, and uniforms, is provided to deserving and underprivileged students to ensure equal access to quality education.
